Up In Flames

11 Jan

This past weekend my brother and his family were in town for Christmas number two. During Christmas number one, Carson and Kegan couldn’t make it, so they came up this weekend for a little gift unwrapping. While they were here and since the weather was on the blistery side of things, we decided to have a little fire out back and roast some hot dogs, make some s’mores, and create 30 foot flames by burning our Christmas trees. There were three trees to burn. Mine, my parents, and my parents tree from last year. The latter tree was big and really, really dead. It burnt well. He is a little video I created of one of the trees burning as well as some other images from the weekend.

Matt Maher

5 Jan

My good friend Jerad has done it again. He has intruduced me to another great artist. This time around it’s, Matt Maher. He has a song on the radio right now called, Alive Again; it is from the album of the same name. He also wrote the Chris Tomlin song, Your Grace Is Enough. I have listened to this album two or three times now and honestly love every song. Musically and, especially, lyrically, this album is deep. My favorite songs so far are Rememberance (Communion Song), You Were On the Cross, and Christ Is Risen.

The album is only $6.99 on iTunes (at least it was last night). Good price for what I think is a great album. I look forward to more music from Matt.

- From Christ Is Risen -

Christ has risen from the dead // trampling over death by death // come awake, come awake // come and rise up from the grave // Christ is risen from the dead // we are one with him again

Week Two: 1000 Words Before

2 Jan

My week two weight loss was… zero, zilch, nada, nothing! To be honest I am not really sure why I didn’t lose any weight this week. I ate just about the same, if anything, better then last week. I didn’t exercise as much, so that may have been the difference. I am frustrated that I didn’t lose any weight, but I am thankful I didn’t gain any.

At any rate, I will keep at it and step up the exercise and hopefully see a loss this week. For now I will leave you with my before pictures.

Week One: Baby Steps

26 Dec

My first week weight loss is… eight pounds. I am very pleased with those results. I have done very well in my eating and considering my schedule this week, I have done well in my exercising as well. The worst meal I had in the past seven days was Tuesday lunch. We celebrated Christmas at the office and had all the food fare that goes with such a celebration. Ham, turkey, dressing, potatoes, mac n' cheese, gravy, and desserts! I ate a little bit of all of it. I new going into the day that I was going to eat a lot at lunch so my other meals were pretty lean.

Other then that meal, I have been eating a lot of chicken, fish, fruits, salads, and cereal; drinking a lot of water (with the help of crystal light) and the occasional diet coke. I want to plan out my meals better in the coming weeks, but I knew this first week would be a lot of trail and error. I didn't want to jump in cold turkey and cut out all of the foods I have lived off of for years and then get discouraged and fall right back into the same lifestyle choices as before.
